  6. What Is This For?
  7. ===============
  8. The application "MacPAD 1.2.1 patch" is a ResCompare resource patching application.  Applying the appropriate patch to a copy of your original MacPAD 1.2 will upgrade your copy MacPAD to version 1.2.1.

  10. What's The Difference?
  11. ====================
  12. Earlier versions of MacPAD would hang if an error occured during the opening of an ADSP connection with a MacX25 server. This was particularly apparent when several clients were competing to acquire the last available virtual circuit of a MacX25 server. MacX25 1.2.1 corrects this problem: if a race condition occurs, the loosing MacPAD now "gracefully" disconnects.

  14. What Can Be Upgraded?

  16. MacPAD is a component of MacX25. MacX25 is available as a retail product.
  17. The following version of MacPAD may be upgraded:
  18. • MacPAD 1.2.

  20. What Cannot Be Upgraded?
  21. =======================
  22. Any other version of MacPAD (i.e, 1.0... etc.), any MacPAD alpha, beta, or development version may not be upgraded.

  29. How Do I Install the Patches?
  30. ============================
  31. The "MacPAD 1.2.1 patch" updater is a simple, one-button utility that you can use to update your current MacPAD software to version 1.2.1.  To use the updater, first quit any other applications and turn off any virus detection programs.

  33. If you start from a fresh copy of MacX25 1.1, you must run the "MacX25 User 1.2 patch" and "MacX25 Server 1.2 patch" updaters before you use the "MacPAD 1.2.1 patch" updater.

  35. If you have moved some files from their original locations, the updaters
  36. will ask you to indicate their locations before initiating the update.

  38. To use the updaters, follow these steps:
  39.  
  40. 1. Double-click the file icon (first "MacX25 User 1.2 patch" and "MacX25 Server 1.2 patch" if you are starting from MacX25 1.1, then "MacPAD 1.2.1 patch") to start the updater.

  42. 2. Click Patch to start the update process.
  43.  
  44. You see a series of dialog boxes indicating the progress of the update.  Please
  45. locate the files if prompted. When finished, you see a message indicating that
  46. the patch was applied successfully.
